Mel received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University, and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Minnesota. Being a systemic therapist, she enjoys working with couples and families - as well as individuals across the lifespan. Mel has experience in a variety of mental health settings including school based, in-home, and chemical dependence treatment. Mel has spent much of her career working with clients facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, anger, identity, and co-occurring chemical dependency/mental illness. She enjoys working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, and strives to engage in culturally responsive and affirming therapy.
Mel utilizes several different therapeutic approaches, but focuses on a systemic and strength-based view of each client. Mel values celebrating each individual and their unique qualities, while utilizing these strengths to empower positive change. She enjoys exploring the connections each client has to others and the world around them as a way to create understanding and healing.
