PMHNP-BC, CNP, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Joanne Howden-Rich is a board-certified nurse practitioner in family psychiatry. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama, and is currently studying for her doctoral degree. Prior to graduation she worked as a registered nurse in an inpatient setting for adolescents in Scottsdale, Arizona. Following licensure as a psychiatric nurse practitioner she has worked in private practice in an outpatient setting in Arizona, she joined River Valley Behavioral Wellness Center in October 2018 after moving to Minnesota.
Prior to her professional experience in nursing, Joanne pursued complementary and alternative medicine as a licensed massage therapist (LMT). As a LMT she became aware of the gaps between medical and psychiatric care, and how the mind/body connection is often ignored. These gaps ultimately led to Joanne to pursue psychiatric nursing and pursue a psychiatric mental health practitioner certificate.
In private practice Joanne focuses on integrative mental health services for emotional and physical well-being. She believes in taking a holistic attitude towards the treatment of mental illness. Joanne’s mission is to provide excellent and compassionate mental health care to people of all ages, although she prefers to work with the child and adolescent population. She is committed to the overall well-being of the individual and their families and engages in ongoing collaboration with other psychiatric providers, therapists, case managers and local school districts.
