Kristin L. Furan

Dr. Furan earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology in 2004 from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Dutchess County Department of Mental Hygiene in New York, where she conducted psychological, cognitive, neuropsychological, and court-ordered assessments for adults and children. She was also trained in individual, marital/couples, family and group psychotherapy for adults, and offered services in a day treatment setting.
She has experience in a variety of settings including suicide and crisis assessment and intervention, chemical dependency evaluation and treatment, inpatient hospital care, work with veterans, and outpatient mental health. Her theoretical orientation is best described as integrative with emphasis on cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic approaches. Dr. Furan uses a collaborative, strength-based approach tailored to the unique needs of individuals. She is interested in holistic care targeting the needs of the whole person. Her primary interests include evaluation and treatment of depression, mood disorders, trauma, panic and anxiety, substance abuse, and relational issues.
